BEHIND THE EVENTS | TIN PALMA

Our team works hard to bring the marquee magic to every single special event we do, but we also love to have fun while we’re at it. Meet Tin, Team Leader extraordinaire, whose hard-working, easy-going and fun nature fits right in with the KataLane ethos.

Hi Tin! We love your name – is it short for anything, and is there a meaning behind it?

Hi KataLane Community! Actually, my real name is Agustin, Tin is just a nickname. It’s easier to pronounce!

How did you find yourself making the move from Argentina to Australia, and then coming to work with KataLane?

I arrived in 2018 with a Working Holiday visa for one year. At first, I wasn’t really sure about my decision to leave home, but time has passed and I started realising that Australia is my place in the world for now. I started working for KataLane because I already knew some of the guys from back home… and I love it!

As Kata’s Team Leader, what does your role involve? What’s the best part of the job?

Basically, that magic happens on site! Taking care that every member of the crew knows their task and also try to have fun while we are setting up. One of the best parts is knowing different places around NSW.

We heard that you’re a musician! Which instrument do you play? And what’s your favourite song to play?

I play the guitar but it’s more like a hobby for me! One of my favourite songs is Blackbird by The Beatles.

We also know that you’re KataLane’s resident comedian. What do you think the difference is between the Argentinian and Australian sense of humour? What’s a joke that you tell over and over that always gets a laugh?

I think they are really similar, but one of the biggest differences I feel is that we are spicier with our humour. I don’t consider myself a joke teller, I feel more eloquent with daily situations.

Can you tell us a funny or strange Argentinian saying?

“Ta fresco pa´ chomba!”

“It’s cold for a polo shirt!”

(Argentines have no tolerance for temperatures below 25 degrees and have lots of phrases about how cold it is, even when it isn’t!)

Have you been able to see much of Australia yet? If so, where have you been, and what did you like about each location?

I’ve been to a few places like Byron Bay and Canberra, but my favourite was Red Bluff in WA. We did a trip from Perth to Exmouth with the boys last year. It was amazing!

Using only three words, how would you describe yourself?

Funny, easy-going and empathetic.

What is your idea of perfect happiness?

I am still looking for it – haha – but I think the most important way to be happy is to live in the present and enjoy the little things that make you feel good. Some problems aren’t as big as we think, sometimes.

Do you have a motto to live by?

Every time is now.

Thanks Tin for your time, We hope all our readers liked it!

Tin with a nice Hampton behind.
