BEHIND THE EVENTS | RICK PEREYRA
21 Mar 2023When they’re not still celebrating their World Cup win, our Argentinian team members are the most hard working, good energy-giving people we know. This is definitely true of our ‘Jack of all trades, master of everything’, Rick. Otherwise known as Ricardo. But you can call him Rick.
Hi, Rick!
Good afternoon KataLane Community! Happy to be here!
Did you know some of our Argentinian team before you worked at KataLane, and if so, how did you meet them?
Yes, I went to school with Nico and Javi. Although they were one school year older than me, we played rugby together since we were 10 years old until we finished school.
How did you decide to come to Australia and how long have you been here?
Honestly, I came here for the waves. I love surfing, so that was the main reason I was attracted to travelling here – the beaches and the ocean. I’ve been here for more than three years now.
We know you’re involved in many aspects at KataLane, can you explain what your day at work usually looks like? What’s your favourite part of the job?
I would say every day is different and that is one of my favourite parts of the job. As I am usually working with multiple things at the same time, every day new things come up.
Most of the days I go to the office in the morning, I work together with Fiona, and then in the afternoon I often work from home, where I find myself more focused.
Have you travelled much around Australia? Is there a particular place that stands out?
I did some traveling, but because of the pandemic, I would say not much. I know the east coast quite well and the place I like the most is Crescent Head. I love the peace, the good vibes of that area and of course, the beaches.
Where was your favourite holiday ever and why?
Difficult one to answer! There have been so many good holidays, but I’ll say my first road trip to Byron Bay with my girlfriend. We were discovering beautiful places we had never been to before, sleeping in our car right next to the beach. We had an amazing time.
Tell us a bit about your ‘other’ career as an architect…
We could say I am a wedding planner now… and my secondary career is architecture, haha. Since I was a kid, I have always been interested in how people live and their use of daily spaces. I was also very much influenced by my parents, as they are both architects. But it has always been something that fascinated me a lot.
Mostly, I like to work on residential projects. My dream project is to design my own beach house with a nice view to the ocean and if it’s walking distance to a surf spot, even better…
Besides your obvious talent as an architect, which other talent would you most like to have?
I would like to learn more about photography. I’ve always liked it, but I’ve never dedicated as much time as I would like to it.
Which words or phrases do you most overuse?
“Vamo arriba bo!”, or “let’s go!”
If you were reincarnated as an animal, what would it be?
An eagle. Ever since I learned about eagles, I have always been very captivated by them.
What is your motto in life?
Carpe Diem. It means live today, enjoy the present.
Which person do you admire most and why?
Lionel Andres Messi. Not only because he is the GOAT, but because of the type of person he is, his modesty, and his dedication to fulfilling his dreams.
